Now clear Dubai immigration in just 15 seconds
More than 31,000 travellers used the system during its pilot phase
DUBAI – Dubai has officially launched a new airport immigration service that allows passengers to have their entry and departure procedures completed through mobile devices.
Known as “Click and Travel”, the service enables passport officers to process each transaction in approximately 12 to 15 seconds. The system uses biometric technologies and secure digital connectivity to speed up checks for travellers arriving at or departing from Dubai.
The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai announced the launch on September 7 during a press conference at Dubai International Airport. The event was attended by Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, Major General Talal Ahmed Al Shanqiti, Assistant Director General for Airport Affairs, and senior officials.
The service has been developed to accelerate immigration procedures and improve passenger processing during busy travel periods, congestion and emergencies. Instead of relying solely on fixed immigration counters, officers can use mobile devices to carry out procedures while moving through airport halls.
Click and Travel
“Click and Travel” combines fingerprint biometrics, facial recognition and electronic passport reading with automated pre-screening. The mobile devices are connected through a secure communications network, giving officers instant access to the passenger information required to complete immigration transactions.
According to GDRFA Dubai, the technology allows an officer to complete the procedure in about 12 to 15 seconds. The system is intended to reduce waiting times and help immigration teams handle passenger movements more efficiently, particularly when airports experience heavy traffic.
The mobile approach also allows officers to process travellers away from traditional fixed counters. This gives airport teams greater flexibility to respond to changing passenger volumes and manage queues and passenger flows across different areas of the terminals.
31,373 processed
The technology has already undergone extensive testing ahead of its official rollout. During its pilot phase, “Click and Travel” processed immigration procedures for 31,373 passengers between its experimental launch in May 2026 and the end of August.
The project itself began earlier, with the first pilot phase launched in October 2025 for passengers travelling through Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport. The second phase began in May 2026, extending the service to all passenger categories across Dubai’s airport terminals.
The service is now available to UAE citizens, residents, GCC nationals and visitors. Its deployment forms part of Dubai’s wider use of biometric and digital technologies to modernise government services and airport operations.
With immigration procedures available through mobile devices, airport teams can also be deployed more flexibly when passenger numbers rise, helping them respond to congestion and operational requirements across Dubai’s terminals.
